Terms and Conditions
BOOK FORMATTING SERVICE AGREEMENT
This Book Formatting Service Agreement ("Agreement") is entered into between 166 Pty Ltd trading as Page Turner Studios ABN 16 626 342 452 of 1/164 Oxford Street, Bulimba Qld, Australia 4171 ("Service Provider", "we", "our", "us") and the client ("Client", "you").
By accepting this Agreement or purchasing any book formatting package or service from Page Turner Studios, the Client acknowledges that they have read, understood, and agreed to these terms and conditions.
1. Scope of Services
Page Turner Studios provides professional book formatting services for authors and publishers, including:
Interior formatting for paperback print (print-ready PDF);
ePub file creation suitable for digital publication;
Layout styling based on the selected package or agreed scope of work;
Formatting suitable for publication on platforms such as Amazon KDP, IngramSpark, or other publishing services.
The specific inclusions of each package or quotation are outlined at the time of purchase.
2. Client Responsibilities
To enable Page Turner Studios to complete the formatting services, the Client must provide all required materials and information before work commences, including:
The final manuscript in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) format;
Book title, subtitle and series information (if applicable);
Author name as it is to appear in the published work;
Preferred trim size (including but not limited to 5 x 8, 5.5 x 8.5, 6 x 9 inches, or a custom size);
Publishing platform requirements (including Amazon KDP, IngramSpark or other publishing services);
ISBN details (if available);
Cover designer details and cover specifications (if applicable);
Any images, illustrations, graphics or other materials to be included in the book;
Preferred font selections, header styles, page numbering preferences and any other design instructions;
Any special formatting requirements, front matter, back matter or publishing requirements;
Written confirmation that the manuscript has been finalised and is ready for formatting.
The Client acknowledges that:
Formatting services do not include editing, proofreading, fact-checking or manuscript assessment unless expressly agreed in writing;
Any changes to manuscript content after formatting has commenced may result in additional fees and revised delivery timelines;
The Client is solely responsible for ensuring all submitted materials are accurate, complete and ready for publication.
Failure to provide the required materials or timely feedback may result in project delays for which Page Turner Studios accepts no responsibility.
3. Sample Approval Process
A sample layout will be provided prior to full formatting.
The Client agrees to:
Review the sample promptly;
Provide any requested amendments at this stage;
Approve the sample before full formatting commences.
Approval of the sample confirms acceptance of the design direction and formatting style.
4. Payment and Booking
All services must be paid in full before work commences.
Work is considered booked and scheduled only upon receipt of cleared funds.
All prices are quoted in Australian Dollars (AUD) and include GST unless otherwise stated.
Page Turner Studios reserves the right to delay commencement of work until payment has been received.
5. Turnaround Time
Standard turnaround time is approximately seven (7) business days from receipt of sample approval and all required materials.
Turnaround times may vary depending on manuscript complexity and workload.
Delays caused by incomplete information, manuscript changes, or slow client responses may extend delivery dates.
Expedited services may be available for an additional fee upon request.
6. Revisions
The Client is entitled to a thirty (30) day revision period commencing from the date final files are delivered.
Included revisions are limited to:
Formatting refinements;
Design adjustments and;
Correction of formatting issues.
Additional fees will apply for:
Substantial manuscript changes;
Layout adjustments;
New content added after formatting has commenced;
Structural edits requiring significant reformatting; and
Requests received after the revision period has expired.
Any additional charges will be agreed in writing before work proceeds.
7. Deliverables
Upon completion, the Client will receive the deliverables included within their selected package:
One (1) professionally formatted print-ready PDF (where included in the selected package);
One (1) ePub file suitable for digital distribution (where included in the selected package).
It is the Client's responsibility to upload the final files to their chosen publishing platform and ensure platform-specific publishing requirements are met.
Page Turner Studios does not guarantee acceptance by any publishing platform and is not responsible for changes to platform requirements made after delivery.
8. Intellectual Property and Ownership
The Client retains full ownership of:
Their manuscript;
Their written content; and
Any materials supplied by the Client.
Page Turner Studios retains ownership of:
Working files;
Formatting templates;
Source files; and
Proprietary production methods.
Source files used to create the final deliverables remain the sole property of Page Turner Studios and will not be supplied to the Client.
9. Confidentiality and AI
Page Turner Studios respects the confidentiality of all client materials.
We agree that:
All materials supplied by the Client will be used solely for the purpose of providing formatting services.
Client content will not be shared, distributed, or disclosed to third parties except where required by law.
Client manuscripts will not be uploaded, shared with, or processed through generative AI or AI-content creation platforms.
Page Turner Studios does not use generative AI tools in the creation or formatting of client books.
All projects are handled with strict confidentiality.
10. Privacy
Page Turner Studios is committed to protecting the privacy and personal information of its clients.
Any personal information collected during the course of providing services will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy available at:

By engaging our services, the Client acknowledges that they have read and understood our Privacy Policy and consent to the collection, use and storage of their information as described therein.
11. Images and Third-Party Assets
Where images, illustrations, or graphic elements are required:
The Client is responsible for ensuring they have the legal right to use all supplied materials.
Page Turner Studios may utilise appropriately licensed royalty-free stock images where agreed or necessary.
All stock imagery will be sourced from reputable providers and used in accordance with applicable licensing terms.
The Client indemnifies Page Turner Studios against any copyright, trademark, licensing, or intellectual property claims arising from materials supplied by the Client.
12. Client Warranties
The Client warrants that:
They own or have permission to use all materials supplied.
The materials do not infringe any copyright, trademark, privacy, or other legal rights.
The manuscript complies with all applicable laws.
The Client agrees to indemnify and hold harmless Page Turner Studios against any claims, losses, damages, costs, or legal expenses arising from supplied content.
13. Limitation of Liability
Page Turner Studios will exercise reasonable skill, care, and diligence in providing services.
However, Page Turner Studios shall not be liable for:
Errors contained within the original manuscript;
Editing, proofreading, or factual inaccuracies not specifically contracted for;
Printing, upload, or distribution issues caused by third-party providers including Amazon KDP, IngramSpark, printers, distributors, or retailers;
Any indirect, incidental, special, punitive, or consequential losses; or
Loss of revenue, profits, business opportunities, or reputation arising from use of the formatted files.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Page Turner Studios' total liability under this Agreement shall not exceed the amount paid by the Client for the services provided.
14. Force Majeure
Page Turner Studios shall not be liable for any delay or failure to perform its obligations under this Agreement where such delay or failure arises from circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to:
Natural disasters;
Floods, fires, storms or severe weather events;
Internet, telecommunications or hosting service failures;
Cybersecurity incidents;
Government actions or restrictions;
Pandemic or public health emergencies;
Industrial disputes;
Power outages; or
Serious illness or incapacity affecting key personnel.
Where a force majeure event occurs, Page Turner Studios will use reasonable efforts to resume services as soon as practicable. Delivery dates may be extended by a period reasonably necessary to accommodate the delay.
15. Cancellations and Refunds
Once payment has been received and formatting work has commenced, no refunds will be issued.
If a cancellation request is received prior to work commencing, a partial refund may be considered at the sole discretion of Page Turner Studios.
Any approved refund may be reduced by administration costs, transaction fees and work already completed.
16. Communication
Both parties agree to communicate professionally and in good faith throughout the project.
Prompt responses from the Client will assist in maintaining agreed timelines and project delivery dates.
17. Governing Law
This Agreement is governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Queensland, Australia.
Any disputes arising under this Agreement shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Queensland.
18. Acceptance of the Agreement
By purchasing a formatting package or service, you acknowledge that you have read and agreed to these Terms and Conditions.
